Grade 7 Curriculum

The seventh grade is the eighth year of students’ education process who are usually between 12 to 13 years of age. It typically forms the second year of middle school and is the next stepping stone for students in preparing them for high school.

Grade 7 Online Middle School Courses:

The Mathematics curriculum covers topics that introduce students to algebra and more advanced geometry. In Social Studies, advanced pre-Civil War history is taught and while American history is usually the norm, other cultures and time periods may also form part of the curriculum. The Science curriculum usually includes moderate-level biology and life sciences.

7th grade math introduces students to more advanced concepts such as algebraic expressions, linear equations, ratios and proportions, and geometry involving area, surface area, and volume. These foundational topics prepare students for Algebra I in 8th or 9th grade.

In science, students explore moderate-level biology and life sciences. Topics include cells and their functions, human body systems, ecosystems, genetics, and introductory chemistry. Lessons are designed to encourage inquiry, experimentation, and scientific analysis.

The civics course helps students understand the foundations of American democracy. Key topics include the U.S. Constitution, the three branches of government, civil rights, and the responsibilities of citizenship. The course also compares systems of government and explores civic engagement.
