Online Elementary School (Grade K-5)

School Overview

Elementary school is where the exciting journey of formal education begins for kids aged 5 to 11. It’s like the building blocks of their learning! At Forest Trail Academy, we offer a fantastic online curriculum designed specifically for students in grades Kindergarten through Grade 5.

This is an incredibly important time for children as it sets the foundation for their future success. In our elementary school curriculum, we focus on essential academic subjects like Math, Science, English, and Social Studies. These subjects help children develop their knowledge and skills in a fun and engaging way.

Let’s take a closer look at what each grade level offers:

KINDERGARTEN

Kindergarten is all about learning through play, songs, drawing, and practical activities. We believe that having fun while learning is the best way to nurture social skills and create a love for education.

Grade 1

In first grade, children start with the basics of Math and reading. They also begin to explore subjects like Social Studies, Geography, and Science. They might even dip their toes into basic geometry and graphing!

Grade 2

Second grade builds upon the foundation laid in the previous year. Students, usually around 7 to 8 years old, dive deeper into Math, Science, Geography, and Social Studies.

Grade 3

By the time students reach third grade, they are around 8 to 9 years old. They encounter slightly more complex concepts in Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reading. It’s like unlocking new levels in a video game!

Grade 4

Fourth grade marks another step forward in elementary school. Children, typically aged 9 to 10, continue their journey by exploring Math, Science, Reading, Writing, and Social Studies. They’re becoming real experts!

Grade 5

Finally, fifth grade is the grand finale of elementary school. Here, students study Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts

Each grade has its own curriculum outline that outlines what topics and skills students will learn. Our online curriculum provides a supportive and interactive learning environment where students can thrive and grow.

Is Your Child Falling Behind?

There are several reasons why a child may have trouble meeting the set standards. Other times, they may have trouble coping with the pace that is set for the entire class. In most of these cases, the child can be helped by providing special attention and one-to-one support. For children with special needs, Forest Trail Academy offers a special Prescriptive/Adaptive Program to help them cope and keep pace with their peers.
This Program is an easy-to-use, self-paced learning system designed to help students achieve proficiency in Reading, Writing, Math, Science and Social Studies. It comprises several web-based lessons that span 6 skill levels and includes curriculum that is aligned to state standards. In keeping with the standards set by the No Child Left Behind Act, this system combines technology with state academic standards to improve student achievement by providing both remediation and instruction.
