Online School for Maui Families | Forest Trail Academy
Your schedule doesn’t follow a school bell, and neither does Forest Trail Academy. Whether you’re managing shifts at the Grand Wailea or the Hyatt Regency Maui, chasing swells on the North Shore, or building a remote career while soaking in island life, you need an accredited school that bends to your family’s reality, not the other way around. FTA gives Maui students a full K-12 education on their terms, from anywhere on the island.
Why Maui Families Choose FTA
Maui’s economy runs on hospitality, and a lot of parents pulling shifts at places like Marriott Wailea Beach or working the front desk at Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort simply can’t guarantee their kids have a parent home by 3 p.m. every day. FTA’s fully asynchronous model means your student isn’t waiting on a live class, they’re working through accredited coursework at whatever hour works for your household. It’s the same flexibility that Maui’s growing remote-worker community has come to expect from their own jobs, now applied to K-12 education. And with Hawaii’s cost of living consistently among the highest in the nation, families appreciate that FTA delivers a rigorous, accredited education at a tuition that doesn’t require a second mortgage.
For Maui’s competitive athletes, FTA is a genuine game-changer. If your keiki is training with Maui Canoe Club, putting in morning sessions at Hookipa Beach Park, or competing on the outrigger paddling circuit across the islands, the standard school calendar is a constant obstacle. Missing class for regattas, traveling to competitions on the mainland, or simply needing the afternoon free for water time, none of that has to mean falling behind. FTA students at Baldwin High School and King Kekaulike High level have made the switch and kept their athletic careers on track while earning a diploma that every University of Hawaii campus and mainland college recognizes without question.
