A failed class does not have to change the graduation date. Forest Trail Academy’s online credit recovery program lets high school students retake the courses they need, at their own pace, with certified teachers, and get back on track for graduation.
How online credit recovery works here
- Send us the transcript. We look at what your student needs to recover and what counts toward their graduation requirements.
- Get a recovery plan. Usually within one business day: which courses, how long they will realistically take, and what it costs.
- Start the same week. Courses are self-paced. A motivated student can finish a semester course in weeks, not months.
Why recover credits with an accredited online school
- We are an accredited private online school, so recovered credits are recognized by schools and colleges
- Certified human teachers grade the work and help when your student gets stuck
- Self-paced means fast is allowed: finish as quickly as mastery allows
- Enroll any week of the year, including summer
- Take one course or several. Pay only for what you need.
Who uses credit recovery
Students who failed a class and need it for graduation. Students returning after an illness or a difficult year. Transfer students whose old school did not line up with the new one. Student athletes protecting eligibility. If graduation is the goal and credits are the gap, this program closes it.

Common questions
How fast can a course be finished?
As fast as the student can show mastery. Semester courses are often finished in 4 to 8 weeks of steady work.
Do the credits transfer back to my child’s school?
We are accredited regionally, nationally, and internationally, and our credits are widely accepted. Check with the receiving school and we will help with any paperwork they need.
Can seniors use this to graduate on time?
That is one of the most common cases. The earlier you start, the more room there is, so reach out even if graduation feels close.
What if my student needs the full program instead?
See our online high school (grades 9 to 12), or ask about a mid-year switch.
