Teaching is our only opportunity to influence the future.  We (mothers, fathers, teachers, college administrators, and educated citizens) have an obligation to prepare the current generation for the complexity of the future.  We do not know what the future will hold, but we do know it will be vastly different from our world today.  Technology allows us to operate on a global scale; the workforce is growing increasingly diverse; and the minimum cost of living leaves many in poverty.  Education is the answer.  Education will not guarantee our children a high paying job, but it will provide them with the tools to think, create, and invent what is necessary to survive and be successful.  We do not know what the future holds; what we know is that the future belongs to the educated mind.
